Allflo Pumps was engaged by a Victorian Shire Council to refurbish and upgrade an existing stormwater pump station used for town drainage and flood relief. The application required a reliable solution capable of handling debris-laden stormwater while reducing ongoing maintenance and improving operational control.
The Challenge:
Stormwater pump stations are exposed to trash, solids, and fluctuating inflows during heavy rainfall events. The existing system required improved solids-handling capability, reliable self-priming performance, reduced maintenance access and costs, and automated level control for flood response.
The Solution:
Remko heavy-duty above-ground self-priming trash pumps were selected, purpose-built for stormwater and flood mitigation applications. The upgraded system included capability to self-prime and re-prime during variable inflow conditions, solids handling up to 76mm diameter, above-ground installation improving access and reducing maintenance requirements, variable speed operation controlled via level sensors, and submersible pressure transducers installed in the wet well for accurate level control.
Outcome:
The refurbished pump station delivers reliable stormwater and flood relief performance, improved maintainability, and greater operational control for council infrastructure.
