Finding Water Management Solutions with High-Volume Pumps

Allflo Pumps & Equipment was engaged by a leading Australian university water research laboratory to deliver a short-notice, high-volume pumping solution for critical flood-related experiments.

Allflo Pumps & Equipment was engaged by a leading Australian university water research laboratory to deliver a short-notice, high-volume pumping solution to support critical flood-related water management experiments. Following severe flooding events in North Queensland, the laboratory required a pump capable of moving extremely large volumes of water within a tight timeframe.

The Challenge:
The university initially sought to hire a large pump for the experiment. However, the required capacity was significant, the project timeline was limited to one month, international researchers were already scheduled to attend, and any delay would severely disrupt the program.

The Solution:
Rather than decline the request, Allflo proposed an alternative approach: design and manufacture a complete new pumpset within the client’s hire budget, allowing the laboratory to retain the equipment for future research. The selected solution was a Remko RM 650-40, featuring 650mm inlet and discharge, capacity equivalent to emptying an Olympic swimming pool (2,500,000L) in approximately 42 minutes.

Outcome:
Despite tight margins and time pressure, the pumpset was delivered on time and within budget. The university gained not only a solution for the immediate experiment but a long-term asset for future water research projects.
